“So what’s the results doc? Are the drugs out of my system or not?” She-Hulk asked with a hint of worry. After her talk with Stu, Jennifer couldn’t get the idea out of her head that the drugs were still in her system. It was a terrifying thought that she might eat someone again. Eating Beck didn’t bother her conscience too much because the jerk was a criminal and had caused her problem in the first place, but she couldn’t stand the thought of eating someone that was innocent. To find out whether she was well or not, Jennifer went to see the best and brightest scientist she knew.

“I really wish you wouldn’t call me doc,” Mr. Fantastic commented as he went over the results on his super computer. “The only person that refers to himself as doc is Dr. Doom and I am most certainly not him.”

“Sorry,” She-Hulk said and leaned in closer to see what Mr. Fantastic was looking at. She had come to Dr. Reed Richard because he was someone Jennifer trusted completely. She had been a member of the Fantastic Four and fought beside Richard. Now she babysat his two children, but still remained close with his group.

For the last hour, Richard had been going over her top to bottom in her She-Hulk form, running blood tests and doing CAT scans on her seven-foot plus frame. It would have felt very invasive if she didn’t trust the fellow hero so much. She studied the screen again, trying to find any clue that would reveal her condition.

“So spill, the drug is completely out of my system, right?”

Mr. Fantastic turned around to address She-Hulk about her condition, but one look at his weary face told She-Hulk that the results were not good. “I’m sorry, the drug is still in your system and may remain inside you permanently.”

“Excuse me?” She-Hulk barked, her eyes going wide and her jaw dropping at the bombshell from one of the world’s smartest scientists. “But…but... how can that be? I’m She-Hulk right now, but I’m trying to eat anyone! I’m not even hungry!”

The last part was a lie. Sure, Jennifer wasn’t gobbling anyone down in a mad frenzy like back in the courthouse, but since changing into She-Hulk, she had been feeling more and more hungry. It had started small, just a craving for a small bite, but over the last hour, Mr. Fantastic had been starting to look very tasty. She-Hulk had tried to justify her hunger for her old friend as just exhaustion, but now she couldn’t lie to herself anymore. After hearing it from Reed's mouth, there was no denying the truth. The drug was still in her system making her still want to eat people.

“You might not feel the same level of appetite as you did when you were in the courtroom, but you still hunger for something alive to eat, am I correct.”

She-Hulk grudgingly nodded.

“I thought so.” Mr. Fantastic typed something onto the computer and a 3-D diagram of She-Hulks DNA appeared on the screen. “The drug has bonded to your gamma radiated blood, giving you the permanent ability and desire to eat living beings as big as you. The desire subsides when you swallow someone, but eventually will always return.”

“So the only way to stop myself from eating someone else is to stop being She-Hulk,” Jennifer deflated at hearing the news. She loved being She-Hulk and couldn’t imagine her life without being the green amazon. But if being She-Hulk meant that lives were going to be put in danger, she had to do the right thing and never return to the larger form.

“Actually, staying out of your She-Hulk form might be worse.”

“What?” Jennifer screened, nearly rupturing the ears of Mr. Fantastic with her voice.

“The hunger is always going to mount inside you no matter which form you’re in. the only difference is that you can feel it growing while you’re She-Hulk. If you remain in your human form, you won’t feel any hunger until it reaches the breaking point, at which point you’ll Hulk out, as you put it, and eat the closest person to you.”

“So basically I’m screwed,” She-Hulk summed up. Mr. Fantastic nodded and She-Hulk slummed forward in defeat. Human beings were now part of her daily diet. She’d have to quit her job and be locked away for the publics well being. Her life was virtually over.

Reed placed an elongated hand on her shoulder in support, showing no fear of her new diet. When She-Hulk looked up, he smiled compassionately at her. He had given her all the bad news, it was time to give her some good news.
