"Ahhh...." Jughead Jones leaned back and patted his full belly in satisfaction. In front of him was an all too familiar sight: an empty plate with nothing but crumbs and various traces of eaten burger on top. To the young teenager, it was the most beautiful sight in the world.

"My, oh my, Jughead, you've got the biggest appetite of any customer I've ever had in years!" Pop Tate, the owner of the diner, said as he collected yet another plate rendered empty by his best customer.

"What can I say, Pop? I'm a growing boy, I gotta eat!" Jughead responded.

"With that kind of appetite, I bet you'd be a cinch to win the Chowhound National Competitve Eating Championship! It's coming to Riverdale this year, and I think together you and me could train to win it without breaking a sweat!"

"Really? You really think I have a chance to beat Mickey "The Bottomless Stomach" Randall?" Jughead cried, excited.

"Positive! Just think! If you win, my restaurant will get nationwide exposure and business will explode! And you... I think you know what the grand prize for this competition is!"

"A lifetime supply of cheeseburgers!" Jughead said dreamily. "Wait a minute! If I win that, what in the world will spend my allowance on when I come here?"

"I've always got milkshakes!" Pop responded.

"Alright, Pop! You've got yourself a deal! For you, I'll eat like I've never eaten before!"

At that, the two shook on it.

That evening, as Jughead went to bed dreaming of the competition, he caught a glimpse of a shooting star from outside of the window. Quickly, he sat up, put his hands in prayer, and said "Oh, great wishing star! I wish... I wish there were some way to win the Chowhound Championship for sure! I mean, Pop is counting on me, but I'm not sure I've got what it takes! Please, please help me!"

He pleaded with all his heart, and although he was old enough to be in high school, a part of Jughead was childish enough to still believe in wishes on a falling star. And sometimes, all you really need to do is believe: as he went to sleep that night, his body began to glow white. The next day, he would be in for a "big" surprise...
