You push thoughts of eating Kate out of your mind. She's your best friend, you couldn't possibly do that to her. Even if it is in your family's nature, eating your best friend seems so wrong. "Stace, I'm not eating Kate. There's no way I could eat my best friend." You tell your sister. Stacey opens her mouth to say something, but you pretty much know what it is and cut her off. "I won't let you, mom, or Susan eat her either." You add. "Even if I have to go up against all of you, I'll protect Kate."

"That's a pretty nice sentiment Mary, but I don't think it'll be necessary." You hear Kate's voice from behind you as your sister's door swings open. "I've survived your family's appetite for twelve years all on my own." she says, with a confident smirk on her face. Both you and Stacy are dumbfounded. She heard all that, and what's more she doesn't look phased at all. Looking at your sister, Kate grins. "Hey Stacy, how were the Carter twins? Was the meal worth dealing with their liquification ability?" she asks your sister. The Carter twins are a pair of gorgeous nineteen year old twins who live across the street. From the context, you're guessing the remains that you saw in the bathroom were them, but how would Kate know that, and what was that about liquification?

Your sister does not look pleased, staring daggers at Kate. "It sounds like you know far more about us then you've let on, Katlynn." Stacy says in a confrontational voice. "You even knew about the Carter twins, and I didn't even know until I tried to eat them." she continues. You still don't understand what's going on here. "You're pretty good to hide your abilities from us all these years. How long have you known that our family is vores?" she asks Kate. Your eyes widen as you stare at Kate. She has abilities too? Does that mean she can also eat people?

Kate smirks with amusement. You've never seen her like this before, it's almost like she gives off a powerful aura. "I've known since the first time I laid eyes on her at daycare." she informs you. "Of course, I couldn't vore or use most of my latent abilities at the time; but my family's ability to identify vores and their abilities on site had already developed. Just one look at Mary and I knew she was a vore, and what powers she would eventually develop." Kate informs Stacy, causing Stacy's eyes to widen in sock. "Your family's special ability typically revolves around size changing. Your mom, for example, is able to bulk up her size and muscles like she was some sort of sexy Hulk. You're capable of making the inside of your stomach like a bottomless pit, which is how you were able to digest the Carter twins without them oozing their way out of you in their liquified forms." she explains. Now Stacy is visibly shaken; it appears Kate was right on the mark.

"H-how? O-only two families have that ability; and there is no way we wouldn't have known if such a powerful family moved here." Stacey says. Apparently Stacey knows about the powers in question, and from the sound of it those that have it our very important among those with these types of powers. "There's just no way you could be a third eye or a black wing." your sister stammers. While you've never heard of a third eye, black wing makes you think of fallen angels from Christianity or Tengus from Japanese mythology and manga. What really surprises you is just how shaken up your sister is. Are these black wing and third eye families more powerful than your family?

Kate titters at your sister's disbelief. "That's true, if a legitimate member of either family moved here. However, I am not a legitimate member of the black wing family. My father was of the black wing, but he fell in love and ran away with my mother, who was of the white wings." she explains, while removing her top. After unsnapping her bra, grey feathered wings erupt from her back. "I am a grey wing, a daughter of both black wing and white wing families, but belonging to neither." she says, while you both stare at her magnificent wings.

This is confusing you a lot. Is the white wings another powerful family. However, that's not the only thing that has you confused. "Wait a minute. I thought only women inherited these abilities. Yet you said your father was a black wing, right?" you ask. You've never met Kate's father, he'd died before you met Kate. You've met her mother, and she was always kind and very pretty; like an angel. If she has white wings, people would believe she is a real angel.

Kate smiles at you, this smile much different than the one she'd been flashing Stacy. This smile is kinder, like the Kate you've always known. "Well, powers generally only manifest in women, but they can still be passed on by males. This is one of the reason many vore families eat their male offspring, as we have always been a very matriarchal people and don't like outside women marrying into our families." she says. "This isn't the case with the black wing. They have many branch families and a head family, so males born to them can marry females who aren't to closely related and both will be of the black wing." she continues. "Some males do manifest powers, especially in more powerful families like the black wing; but they are rarely a match to the female's powers, and they never receive the ability to vore."

While listening the whole time, Stacy's been trying to process all of this. Finally she speaks up again. "How do two people from families with completely different viewpoints get together? The black wing look at humans with even more contempt than most vore families; and the white wing see themselves as the guardian angels of humanity." she asks. Wow. The white wing have such noble intentions, no wonder Kate's mother is so kind.

"Haven't you ever read Romeo and Juliet?" Kate responds to your sister with a question of her own. "History is filled with couples who fell in love and overcame family differences." she states. Not really the best analogy, since Romeo and Juliet ultimately perished. "My father was a gifted power user. The family often sent him to assassinate humans who were too infamous to simply make disappear. His job was to make it look like an accident. One mission he was supposed to kill a couple of children, and couldn't bring himself to do it. Afterward, he was severely reprimanded and began to lose his faith in the black wing view of humans. That's when he met my mother and they ran away together and had me." she said. "At least, until the black wing caught up with us and killed him." she adds coldly. That makes a shiver run down your back. How could people kill their own family? Even your mother was willing to kill you if you didn't develop, at least according to Stacy.
