Tad Polaris was walking up a frontage road with his girlfriend Taffy Tisdale, when they saw a vehicle of some type partially blocking the road. It was about the size of an Apollo space capsule, but much sleeker and more futuristic in design. The door was open, so Tad decided to go check it out.

"Let's take a look!" Tad said to Taffy as he walked up the short gangplank. "Hello?" Tad said, but there was nobody there. Taffy walked up the gangplank, too.

A man in a futuristic outfit climbed up out of a field and walked up the gangplank. "Hi there!" said the futuristic-looking man when he saw Tad and Taffy. "I am Chronomulous! I'm a time traveler from one-hundred and twenty centuries in the future! I'm testing out a time machine with a new type of engine!"

"How does it work?" Tad asked.

"To understand how this time machine works, you must first understand how time travel worked originally! A time vehicle would breach temporal space and follow the Earth's gravity trail into the direction of the past or the future."

"How is your method of time travel different than that?" Tad asked.

"My time vehicle uses neutrino dissimilation to break down 99 percent of the matter composing the time vehicle and its occupants, so that it takes less power to propel it through temporal space. The neutrinos are equally distributed at the destination of each trip, so that no matter how many times I travel in this machine, the computer knows where to distribute the subtracted neutrinos after each trip!"

"Can you take us on a trip through time?" Taffy asked.

"Sure!" said Chronomulous. "When would you like to travel to?"

"How about the 1950s?" Taffy asked.

Tad agreed, so Chronomulous set the target date on the control console, and they took off. A guy driving a car down the frontage road at that exact instant saw the time capsule disappear. The driver never knew if what he saw was a hallucination or not.

Meanwhile, inside the time capsule: "There's a problem!" said Chronomulous. "I shouldn't have taken on any additional passengers! According to my computer, the neutrino dissimilators are over-compensating by spreading our neutrinos out over trips we haven't made yet, without returning them! The navigation console is acting up, too!"

"I thought you said our neutrinos were supposed to be spread out!" said Tad.

"You don't understand!" said Chronomulous. "When the neutrino dissimilators malfunctioned, they stole memory from the navigation console because they're controlled by the same software!"

"What are you telling us?" Taffy asked.

"I'm telling you we could end up anywhere in history, and at any size! We could end up in Biblical times at the size of ants, or in the distant future at six inches tall!"

Tad held Taffy in his arms, and they looked into each other's eyes.

"We've arrived!" said Chronomulous. He opened the door and looked outside. What year were they in?
