One path continued upstream against the underground river. The other path started as a rocky shore for the river and continued into a large tunnel big enough for Arachne. Also, Arachne and Felix could see a light coming from around the corner as the dry tunnel turned. Given that Arachne was frightened of water and that the dry path seemed to lead to a way out, it was an easy choice for Arachne as she took the dry tunnel. She was glad she was on the right side of the wall to go to the tunnel, otherwise, she would have had to go on the ceiling and go upside down to get there.
Once she was on the dry tunnel, Arachne got off the wall and placed all eight legs on the floor. Arache let out and exasperated sigh of relief. Felix looked up at what he could of Arachne as he dangled from her neck. "You did it, Arachne," Felix congratulated the forty-five foot tall five year old dridder that was is only friend.
Arachne looked down at her little human friend so that he was about to see her pretty and youthful face."I did, and it's thanks to you, Felix. I couldn't have done it without you," Arachne told him.
Felix was glad to hear this. Despite Arachne being a giant that made Felix look like he was a little more than seven inches tall to her, she still saw him as a person. Arachne still saw him as an equal and a friend that had helped her find the courage to overcome one of her greatest fears. He was truly safe with the giant dridder, and Felix no longer feared her. He trusted her with his life!
Suddenly, Arachne smiled and giggled as she stared at Felix. Confused by this reaction, Felix questioned, "What's so funny?"
"You look so funny and cute as my necklace," Arachne laughed. She poked Felix's side to make in swing for an added effect.
"Hey," Felix hollered. He wasn't mad at Arachne. In fact, he thought it was quite funny as well, he was just playing with Arachne.
"Sorry, Felix," Arachne replied, still giggling, "I couldn't help myself. Do you want down and out of those webs?"
"Actually, your webbing is very warm. I'm fine with staying in this till we find a place to stay," Felix informed her.
"You sure?" Arachne replied, "Well, if you like being my necklace, then I guess I'll let you be that."
With that said, Arachne began walking again. When she came to the turn, she turned and had to cover her eyes with her arm for a moment. Felix had to close his eyes till he was a little more used to it. When their eyes adjusted, they found themselves in a huge cavern. It was perfect for a giant dridder that was still growing, such as Arachne. Arachne was amazed by the cave. It reminded her so much of her home in Felarya. The light was coming from the entrance of the cave, but it didn't engulf the entire cave. There were still dark places that pleased Arachne. Arachne looked down at Felix and with excited eyes she pleaded, "Can this be our home?"
Felix had no problems with the cave. He could also see a dense woods outside the entrance. So, they might not have troubles getting food. "Sure, we can stay here," Felix agreed, "This should be a safe place to stay. Even if Lord William figures out we went up stream and find where the river reaches the surface. This cave is on a different path from the river. We can stay here," Felix informed her.
Arachne smiled and replied, "Good, this looks just like my old home."
Suddenly, Felix heard a deep growl beneath him from the dark abysses of Arachne's stomach. "Looks like you're hungry," Felix laughed nervously.
"I didn't eat the breakfast you gave me, and it's lunchtime. Are you hungry too?" Arachne asked.
"Yeah," Felix answered.
"Would you like to wait here, and I'll catch the food?" Arachne suggested.
"Sure," Felix agreed.
Arachne made a very quick and small web and placed Felix in it. "I'll be right back," Arachne told him.
"I don't have to worry about being par of your meal, right?" Felix asked as he was suspended in her web.
"You may be in my web right now, but I will never eat you, Felix," Arachne assured Felix, "You're my only friend. I need you too much to just eat you."
With that assurance, Arachne left the cave to catch some food. After lunch, she would make her web in the cave and make a few trap webs for the animals of the woods. They animals won't know what hit them. Where will this story go next? Your choices are below...
