It was pretty much a personal question talking about one's inner thigh and the question just seemed sudden and out of context. Who asks about one's inner thigh in normal conversations? Then again, this wasn't a normal conversation between this mother and an escaped slave or a normal situation as they talked in the hands of a giant five year old dridder, but even that question still seemed strange and out of the ordinary in spite those two facts that made the situation they were in odd. Eventually, Felix said, "No, I have a scar in that area."
Beth's hopes dropped sharply when she heard Felix's answer. She had hoped that the child before her was her son, and all the facts except for the scar were there. Felix was the right age and he became a slave around the time Andrew would have become one. He didn't have the same name of her son, but Lord William could have changed Andrew's name, from what her ex husband had said, Lord William had already erased Andrew's memory of his past life. Also, Felix didn't remember anything of his first five years of life. The only thing that didn't match was that Felix had a scar instead of a birthmark and... Beth suddenly interrupted her own thoughts and thought about something else. What if Lord William could take away people's birthmarks and certain distinguishing features? It is known that Lord William steals children, but he must due something other than erase their memory that would keep parents from recognizing them. Beth's hope grasped upon that final thought, it was her last hope in finding her son. "This scar, is it on your left thigh, about right here?" Beth asked touching her own left thigh in the spot Andrew's birthmark would be.
Again Felix was surprised that Beth continued the subject of what was on his inner thigh. The personal matter of the subject wasn't the only thing that unnerved Felix though, there was also the Beth knew, or seemed to know, exactly where Felix's scar was. It was quite creepy that she knew where his scar was, and Felix just nodded a little hesitantly to answer Beth's question. How could she have known, and why was she talking about what's on Felix's inner thighs? One minute she was talking about her lost son and her father, and then the next thing she decides to talk about is what's on Felix's inner thighs. Suddenly, Realization hit Felix like one of Lord William's slaps when he slapped with his right hand wearing the heavy ring of his. Could Andrew have a birthmark in that exact place? Did Beth think Felix could be Andrew? "Did Andrew have a birthmark in that same place?" Felix asked. However, Felix didn't need her to answer for him to figure out the answer. Hope was among the watery irises of Beth's eyes; hope that Felix was her son.
Though Beth didn't need to say it, she answered anyway, "Yes, Andrew had a birthmark in the same place your scar is."
Realizing where this conversation was going, Arachne stopped and looked down at the humans in her hands, which were cupped together to give them space with, eyes wide with amazement. Arachne asked, "Do you think Felix is Andrew?"
"Yes, I think it is possible," Beth stated without bring her eyes away from Felix. Beth stared at the escaped slave boy in the giant hands of the dridder along with her. As she studied his face, she saw parts of herself and parts of the father mixed in Felix's face. Beth though back to the boy she had and the last time she saw him five years ago. He had a face she would never forget. There were resemblances in Felix, but he was older which made some differences. Also, some of the father's features were no longer there. Maybe Lord William was able to change and shape Felix's face to erase some of his father's likeness so that he wouldn't be recognized. However, Lord William must not had known what Beth looked like and the likenesses Andrew had with her, because all those features were still in Felix's face.
Felix was shocked by the revelation. Could he truly be this woman's long lost son Andrew or was it a big coincidence? "But, could I really be Andrew?" Felix questioned.
"Well, there's a lot of evidence that fits that conclusion," Beth said, "You're the right age as my son, you were a slave to Lord William, and you also become a slave around the same time as my son with no other children around your age."
"But I don't remember anything for the first five years of my life," Felix argued.
"My husband said Lord William would erase my son's memory with some sort of potion," Beth informed him.
"But what about the scar?" Felix asked, "You said your son has a birthmark there. I have a scar there instead."
Maybe Lord William was able to remove it," Beth suggested. Where will this story go next? Your choices are below...
