"Because when we get to the top of this mountain and you see the view, you're gonna love it, Trent." responded Seth.
"Pfft, thats what the discovery channel's for." he retorted with a smirk.
"Guys, chill. It's not so bad. It's actually pretty cool, just the three of us out in nature." said Karen. Just then the wind picked up.
"Chill? I think I've done enough of that already. This wind is just a little TOO cool for me."
"You'll live." chuckled Seth.
Seth, Trent, and Karen had been on the mountain trail for not even half an hour, and already Trent was complaining. It wasn't even a tall mountain at all, just a light mountain trail, but Trent was still being his usual lazy self, much to the amusement of Seth and Karen. The three of them had been fast friends since childhood, always inseperable. Trent had often felt a little out of place ever since Karen and Seth started dating, but the three of them were still as close as ever. Eventually the trio came to a point where the mountain trail began to taper into a somewhat narrow ledge.
"Uh-oh. That wasn't there before. Some of the rock-face must have fallen away. That's comforting..."said Seth.
"What the heck?! You're not going to wuss out on me now, are you? We've come this far let's keep going. It's not too narrow. Here, I'll go first."
Just then Trent started to walk across the ledge.
"Trent, are you crazy?! I didn't come out here to watch my best friend fall off a cliff!"
"Don't be a baby! Come on!"
Karen merely stared wide-eyed at Trent making his way across. She turned to look at Seth.
"Seth, don't make me cross that thing. I really, really can't do that." Seth could see the panic in her eyes.
"Goddammit, Trent, get back over here!"
"If y'all aren't coming, I'll go to the top myself! I came to see the mountain top and that's what I'm going to do."
"Trent, don't be stupid! Karen, wait here, I'm going to get him."
"Be careful!" she exclaimed.
Cautiously, Seth sidled his way down the narrow path, trying his best to get to Trent without looking down the steep, icy precipice.
