He missed grandpa.
Sure, King Dominus was a grouchy, grumpy, grumbly old bastard, but he was still Hercules' grandfather. And even if he didn't always show it, Hercules knew that Dominus had loved him. He'd made him little presents...he'd taught him how to ride and hunt and shoot and joust and fence...
But with Grandpa Dominus gone, the palace seemed very empty.
It wasn't like the palace in Regis City in Fatlantis where the entire family lived there. In Ferramount, it was just King Goliath and Crown Prince Hercules. And that was far too empty for Hercules's liking.
He decided that his father needed a new companion. Someone who could take care of him and love him and be loved by him. And Hercules was tired of being surrounded by a sausage-fest. He wanted a woman back in the palace. Aunt Melisende dropped by every now and then, but it wasn't the same...
