Chapter 9: The One And Only Rick O Chet   (ID #846099)
an addition by: Walson  More by this author

Carmine's feet were getting a tad bit on the tired side from carrying all the gold that he earned, and decided that the local blood bar would be a good place to spend some dough. The bar in question had a warm atmosphere created by the wood pannels in the walls and partially dim lighting. With slow almost bluesy music the bar almost lulled Carmine into a complete sense of security, though, being a bounty hunter he knew that you should never let your guard down. Though, there wern't many people in the bar in question as it was the slow part of the day, just a jackal, some kind of bird, a nicely dressed female badger, and a rough looking human.

"What will it be?" asked the Boar bartender, wiping one of the glasses with a questionably clean rag.

"Gazelle, preferably a young one" Carmine answered, peaking at the mirror behind the Boar, making sure that he could easily see the door in the reflection. While the Boar prepaired the Cheetah's drink, Carmine notice the human setting the glass on the back of his raised hand and ballencing it. The man's gaze looked almost sedated, his smile wide but calm, not to mention that a huntchback had a better posture than he did. Still Carmine watched, but it seemed just as he blinked there was a single clink sound and the man's hand was now wrapped around an upside down glass. Carmine couldn't help but chuckle at the man's supposed 'speed', but you then spotted something on the top of the bottom of the glass, a small coin. Did the man put the coin on the glass during the really short time that he blinked? Carmine scooted closer to the scruff man to observe his trick, noticing how the man's head was so far forward that the ears were at the same height as his shoulders. Then, he did it again, the glass quickly flipped back in it's upright position, sitting on the back of his closed fist.

"Impressed?" The man asked, opening up his closed fist to drop the coin onto the bar.

"A little" Carmine said crossing his arms, trying not to feel impressed by the man's trick. The boar handed the cheetah his drink before retreating to the veiwing screen underneith the counter.

"Well, I must be something to impress a cheetah" the man said with a snicker as he rolled the coin across the fingers, "it looks like you have a little bit of money, mind if you share the wealth?"

Carmine snickered, "oh really, you saying that you want me to put up a wager?"

"I bet, that I can face this glass and throw this coin behind me and still get it to land in this exact glass without touching the glass or the coin once it's left my hand." the man bet, "and if I win, you give me a few gold peices to pay for my drink, if I lose, I owe you a drink."

The cheetah couldn't help but snicker, he couldnt wait to see this, he said, "alright, bring it on."

The man tossed the coin fairly hard behind him, the metal disk bouncing off the back of a near by chair and landed on the top of the ceiling lamp just above the two. The coin then slid off and landed in Carmine's drink with a wet 'ploink'.

"Whops, sorry" the man appologised picking up carmine's drink and pouring it into the intended glass, "though I do agree that it's still in the rules, and that you owe me a drink." Carmine couldn't help but smile and handed the man a few gold peices before realising that his bag was missing.

"Don't worry, I like to help myself" the man said holding Carmine's bag of gold and taking a few peices from it.

"There better not be any more gold peices missing" Carmine threatened.

The man chuckled saying, "don't worry, I only take my winnings, no more no less." The man gave Carmine a bigger smile and Carmine's heart jumped a tiny bit. He recognized the man's face, there was a very large bounty on his head. His name was Rick O, Chet, also known as 'The Luckiest Cheat Alive' because of how he seems to win almost every game. People knows he cheats, but no one has ever caught him cheating. Good old Rick is also known as the 'Gunslinging Prophet' for predicting someone elses next moves. Though people just mispronouce his name as Ricochet because of how he ricochet bullets into his enemies. What ever they call him though, all Carmine knows was that he's good at staying alive.

What was Carmine going to do?
