Kris stepped into the bookstore. He knew Mandy liked to read, and he figured he could find something that shw would like here. The bookstore's name was Imagine, and looked like a mostly normal bookstore. It had several wooden shelves with books stuffed on them, and a red, velvet carpet. Looking to his right, Kris noticed that there was a very nice lounge area, where he saw a few people sipping latés and munching in Biscotti. Kris looked out a window, and saw that the skies looked very ominous, ready to rain. A rumble of thunder confirmed this. "Looks like I'm waiting out the storm here." Kris said to himself.

Kris went deeper into the store, and found something unexpected. There were three staircases in the back, two going down, and one up. The one on the left had a plastic sign that read "Mangas/Graphic Novels." The carpeting on the staircase was well worn, indicating that there was in fact, a good collection of Grakhic Novels down those stairs. The staircase kn the right didn't look nearly as impressive, with instead a laminates paper sign that read, "Nonfiction Section." it looked like it didn't get much traffic. But what intrigued Kris the most was the middle staircase. It had no sign, and the carpdcting looked brand new. "I wonder what's up there?" Kris asked himself.

Deciding this was as good as a place as any to find a gift for Mandy, Kris went over to the ______ stairway.
