Shrugging, Kris walked into the store, and was nearly blinded by the chrome walls, doors, and shopping counters. Once inside, Kris was quickly approached by a twenty-something woman in a bright pink wig. She wore a black tinted visor over her face, almost like one lensed sunglasses, and was dressed in a shiny leotard that held her generous bust high on her chest. (And you guessed it, it was chrome colored.)
"Who are you supposed to be, Lady Gaga?" Kris said
"Silly boy, I'm here from the future!" the pink haired girl said, speaking with the slightest hint of a Brittish accent. "My hometime is really 2139, but I've been sent back in order to gather research on you primative creatures."
"By working in retail?"
Kris could have sworn he could hear the girl grinding her teeth after he said that. "No, not simply by 'working in retail'." the girl made air quotes to emphasize the last part of that statement. "You see, my time's government is working on a series of time portals uniting our two centuries. We are merely here to tes if you incompetent nincompoops can be trusted with such power."
"Futuristic electronics, huh? Looks like I found the right place for Mandy's birthday present." Kris said. "Sign me up, Future Lady."
"Oh yes, I've forgotten about this simple ritual of gift giving." she said, "And by the way, you may refer to me as Embla, not Future Lady." Kris followed Embla, keeping one eye on her jiggling rear as they wked deeper into the store. "So, can I ask you some questions about the future?" Kris said
"You're probably going to anyway, so go ahead." Embla grumbled
"So you're from 2139. Does ths mean that the whole 2012 doomsday thing isn't true?"
"Indeed. In fact, there have been seven other appocoalypses that haven't come true. I'm telling you though, 2142 is for real ths time."
"Okay, did they ever find a cure for Walt Disney?"
"Yeah, in the late 2050's. But comedy changed a lit in those hundred years, so he was really just a shell of his former self. He died two years later of a stroke."
"Wow, that sucks." Kris said. "One last question. Why is everything chrome?"
"Everything is chrome in the future!" Embla explained
"Where have I heard that before?"
"Look, are you gongto get a gift for your girlfriend, or shoot the breeze with me all afternoon?" Nodding, Kris left Embla, and took off down one of the chrome played aisles, looking for a present.
