Kris picked the box up off the shelf. It looked like an old video game controller, but it had an extra wire to it. One that you plug into the console, and another that looked more like an IV. "Hey Embla, what's this thing?" he asked.

"Oh come on! I figured someone even as primative as you would recognize a video game controller!" she scoffed. 

"Well what's the second wire for?" Kris asked

"Ever since the late 1990s, Nintendo had been trying to make video games a more lifelike experience. They started off simple, switching games to first person, and releasing peripherals like the Rumble Pack. As their technology advanced, they came out with the Wii, with advanced motion detection. The years passed, and Nintendo had nearly perfected their montion sensors, providing a truely lifelike gaming system. But the players wanted more, and Nintendo developed this baby. With this, your body is literally turned into Binary code, and downloaded into the game.

"Wow." Kris said. "I don't suppose it's backwards compatible?"

"Do you think we'd be selling it if it wasn't?" 

"Touché." Kris said to Embla, as he handed over his money in exchange for two game controllers. Checking the time, Kris realized that he still had several hours before Mandy's birthday party started. Kris headed over to her house, and headed up to her room, coming across no resistance from Mandy parents, who were setting up the backyard for a Hawaiian luau for Mandy's birthday.

Fucking Blue Shells!!!" Kris heard Mansy yell from the other side of the door. "Perfect, she's playing Mario Kart night now!" He knocked on the door, and made his presence known. "Come in!" Mandy yelled. She paused the game when she saw that it was Kris at the door. "Hey! What are you doing here?" she asked.

"What, can't I visit my girlfriend on her birthday?" Kris said, "And maybe give her a present?" Mandy's eyes immediately lit up. Kris handed Mandy the box, and she started to tear into the wrapping paper. "Oh, two more controllers! Now we can play together!" Mandy said. "Thank you Kris, that was very thoughtful of you."

"Well, it's not just a normal controller." Kris said. "According to the lady at the mall, it's supposed to give you a completely lifelike experience."

"You mean like Virtual Reality?" Mandy asked.

"I guess." Kris said. He set up the controllers, and handed the special controller to Mandy. He popped in a game, and pressed the start button. Immediately, Mandy's body was vaporized, and turned into binary code and pulled into the game Kris put into the system!
