Her heardheadedness would only send you charging head first into trouble and an obvious trap. And since she's already kinda p'oed thanks to Aleksandra, she's gonna need to stay away from the fray until she cools down.
"We'll snipe," you answer. Meiling's eyebrow twitched when you said that.
"Snipe?! SNIPE?!" she obviously didnt like that idea, "we're just gonna stand around long distance from the REAL action?!"
"I agree," Sandra told her, "Perhaps I can find a suitable bomb strap just her size..."
Before Ms. Hong could snap at her again, you intervene, "No. We can handle sniping."
"But-"
"It's about time I put what Grigori taught me to good use."
Unfortunately, Sandra was still not convinced, "This will REQUIRE that you kill who you are told to kill. And from what Afon has told me, you are a pacifist." Ugh... one of the worst things about joining the mafia (or ONE of the worst).
"I've already killed one of my former boss's assassins," you told her, "as well as of the Horseman with my bare hands," you told her, "I am not afraid to kill again if I have to." The ruskie broad looked you dead in the eyes, possibly to search for the truth in them. Meiling was glaring her way, possibly not liking the stare she's giving you. But thankfully, she kept her distance... at least until she sees hostility.
Finally, Aleksandra snapped her finger and one of her henchmen handed her what looked to be a variant of an SVDS. She then handed it to you. You practiced with a sniper rifle a couple of times, but never with an authentic Dragunov. If felt like the first test drive in a brand new car.
"I certainly hope you are not," Aleksandra said to you, "we will return with an hour for briefing. Now hurry up and get dressed properly. If you are going to return to the Family, you should at least look the part. That includes you, Chun Li."
"I wish I were Chun Li," you heard Meiling whisper, "so I could squeeze her chicken neck with my thighs until her head pops off..."
*******************************
Hours later, you positioned yourself atop the specified building along with your partner. In a nutshell, you had learned from your briefing that one of Horsemen had a arranged a meeting with an associate of one of Afon's rival gangs within the apartment next to your building. From what you recall, they had an important hostage, but Afon's not sure which one. All you know is that you need to be VERY careful who and where you shoot.
You waited patiently in your nice black business suit with red tie and matching black business pants, black leather gloves, and shades which are kinda useless in the middle of the night but you kept them on because it felt like an hour to dawn the Mafia attire again.
Meiling on the other hand, did not like her new suit, which was the exact same as yours (only her long red hair had to be wrapped in a bun). She grumbled and paced around in impatience while squeezing her comme cap in her hands.
"Grrr... I cant believe I gotta dress like a total dickweed just like the rest of you!" she whined, "I mean, look at this! All black?! So not me! Couldnt I have gotten a green suit? ...Or at least a suit with some chest-space? I mean, just because I'm a better bloomer than Comrade Cunt doesnt mean I have to suffer too!"
No point in arguing with her at a time like this. You'll need to find a better way to calm her down. And you know just the way.
"I think it looks good on you," you compliment her, instantly causing her to jerk her head back at you, "really captures your serious, dark, fearless lady assassin aura you got about you."
"Fearless... lady assassin?" mission accomplished! She's practically blushing and probably looking all wide-eyed under her shades.
"BabaYaga to He Who Brought the Flame. Do you copy?" just then, you heard Aleksandra's voice call to you through your earpiece. Meiling edged close to you to listen in on the conversation.
"This is He Who Brought the Flame," you respond while Meiling just mouths 'He Who Brought The Flame?' in disgust, "I read you loud and clear, over."
"Good. Grigori's men are waiting for their cue. Keep a close eye on the incoming black cars from the east."
You did as you were told. You used your scope to watch the group of black cars park in the parking lot. You saw a large group of men in military attire exit...
"Holy hell, this freaks are practically dressed for war," Meiling whispered. You ignored her and paid more attention to the person in tattered clothes with a bag over his head that theyre 'escorting'.
"Do you see them?" asked Aleksandra.
"Yes," you answer.
"You have a visual on the hostage?"
"Nope. They got a bag over his head, I cant see who it is."
"Damn. Watch them carefully," she ordered, "do not lose sight of them and whatever you do, do NOT pull the trigger until I give you the order. Do you understand?"
"Loud and clear," you tell her, then look over at Meiling, "hey, Meiling, ya got your binoculars ready?"
"I broke 'em," she boldly admitted, "with the edge of my hand!" Your confidence dropped a mile.
"What do you mean you broke 'em?! I need a second spotter!"
Unfortunately, she took THIS time to get big headed! "Pst! I dont need binoculars. A graceful dragon youkai has impeccable eyesight!" This was gonna be a LONG night!
Anyways, you shrugged it off as you watched the soldiers escort their hostage across the back of the building. Meiling was squinting her eyes, watching along with you (or at least PRETENDING to).
"Grigori's men are in position," Aleksandra tells you, "tell me their exact movements so I can relay the information."
"Alrighty," you say, "theyre entering from the back."
"How many?"
"I count seven. No! Eight! A black haired woman"
"That narrows it down," Meiling said sarcastically. You ignored her and continued spotting.
"It looks like she's bribing one of the security staff. The guy gave them the ok." You lose sight of them the moment they step in. A while passes and you still dont see a thing.
"Where are they now?"
"I cant see them. All the lights are off."
"There! On the balcony walkway!" your partner spots them for you! Good, you see them heading down it.
"Thanks, Meiling!" you thank her and continue spotting, "one of the apartment rooms lit up. 3rd floor, on the far right corner. I see a bright red haired woman smoking one of those long fancy cigarettes while sitting on the couch. She looks like she's waiting for someone."
"Jerry could ya stop peeking at that woman, and return to task at hand?!"
"SHH!" you shushed Meiling and noticed the woman's door opening.
"A few of the soldiers entered the room!" you stated, "theyre bringing in the hostage!"
The black haired woman entered last. From this position you were able to get a view of her face. Although her mouth was covered in a garb, you recognized her gray eyes and facial complexion. That woman who reminded you of your cousin!
"It's that second Horseman from the picture!" you say. You see a bit of chatting between her and the red haired woman as the soldiers position their hostage on the couch.
"With the red haired woman?" asked Aleksandra.
"Yep."
"That must be the associate. Keep your eye on them."
After a short while, the Horseman pulled the bag off the hostage's head... you positioned your scope like a camera to get a good look at their young slightly bruised red-haired hostage... oh dear.
"Sadri!" you shouted, "that's Sadri!"
"Sadri?!" Meiling heard that, "as in PRINCE Sadri H'thiara?! Ms. Scarlet's cousin?! The heir of the Jhiroggnin Empire who is oh so generously funding protection for my boss AND yours?!"
You gulped hard, "Yeah."
Meiling glared at you, "You have any idea, ANY, what the King's forces are gonna do to us if Sadri dies?!"
Before you could speak, the voice on the earpiece did.
"That's impossible. We had the Kingdom beefed with extra security. How could this happen... Grigori! Move your men in now! Secure the prince! ,,,Grigori? Grigori, do you copy? Respond you goddamn drunken svoloch!! WHERE THE HELL IS HE?!" That doesnt sound good. You overhear a lot of rustling around along with arguing in Russian! Probably curse words.
As you waited, you noticed the red haired woman pulling out a cellphone and talking on it. She stands up, giving you a good view of her wings. DRAGON wings!
Your skin paled at the sight when she turned around, giving a good view of the familiar slightly older woman's face. XU YIN! SHE's the associate the Horseman is meeting with?!
'No fucking way' you mouthed.
"What's wrong?!" damn, Meiling noticed your panic, "you see something bad?" Crap, she cant see her mother!
Oh crap! You hear gunfire from the building. You hope everyone's alright!
"ROC!! CHANGE OF PLANS!" Aleksandra shouted through the earpiece, "SHOOT THE ASSOCIATE! SHOOT HER NOW!!
"S-Shoot her?"
"DO IT NOW! WE DONT HAVE MUCH TIME!!"
"You heard her, Jerry! Shoot her!" damn it, Meiling's even egging you on! "Stop stalling! Shoot her already!"
You dont have much time! Do you dare shoot Meiling's mom?! What if she finds out?! What if Sadri or more important people die if you dont shoot her?!
"WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! SHOOT HER!" Where will this story go next? Your choices are below...
