Leonard Kelston moves into a new house with his father and mother. Leonard's father is a lawyer who finally moved the family out of their condo to a house in the suburbs. His mother is a doctor who works in the hospital in town. Their house is a large, empty old Victorian mansion, Elwood Hall, that nobody's lived in for a very long time.

At first, everything is fine. Thanks to all the old furniture still lying around, the family can move in quickly. They settle in and relax and go about their business. But then, strange things start to happen. Leonard can hear voices in his head. He can see things that nobody else can. Could his house be haunted? At school, Leo's new friends ask him about 'Nathan' and whether he's met him yet. Leo begins to think his house is haunted. Is it? Or are the kids pulling his leg? The flickering lights are because of bad wiring. The creaking is because of the floorboards and the strange noises at night are because of the wind. Elwood Hall isn't haunted!...Or is it?

Andrew Kelston - A successful lawyer and Leo's father.

Leonard "Leo" Kelston - Andrew and Marion's 14-year-old son.

Nathaniel Elwood - The ghost boy who haunts Elwood Hall, his old family home.

To Leo, everything is new. A new house, a new town, a new school and new friends. But what about that one boy he probably doesn't want to meet?

Nathaniel Elwood was born in Elwood Hall over a hundred years ago. He died there at the age of fifteen. For fifty years, he haunted his family's house, keeping an eye on the Elwoods still living there. When the last of the Elwoods left, Nathaniel was determined to rest in peace, with no more family to watch over. People constantly wanting to buy and move into his house, however, has left Nathaniel angry and restless and in fifty-plus years since the house last had a living Elwood in it, Nathan had made it his job to scare off anyone trying to live at Elwood Hall.

But over sixty years is a long time to be alone and Nathaniel's feeling bored and tired. Will he scare away this family as well? Haunting them until they go mad? Or will he come out of the woodwork, reveal himself to them, and try to make friends?
