Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Middle School   (ID #1100154)
an addition by: Dr. Awesome Funk  More by this author

The summer before I went to middle school, my dad had a girlfriend whom we ended up moving in with. She had two kids; one my age, and a five year old. The five year old was a boy who I didn't get along too well with sometimes because I couldn't handle his immaturity. The other was a girl, and we were kind of smitten on each other. But we never did anything or got together because our parents were dating. At the end of that summer, my dad and I moved out because he and his girlfriend broke up.

Junior high school was when I met my first girlfriend, a girl who started as a friend and we got close. Then she had to move away after we were "dating" (If you can even call it that) only a few weeks. The impact devastated me. I became depressed, but wouldn't talk about it. And eventually, my body just "shut down", making me sick from no virus or cause. After two weeks in the hospital, the doctors figured out it was emotional illness, but I still wouldn't talk about it. After another week, I finally told my dad and let it all out. I told him how close we were and how we were just getting involved. After crying myself dry, I started recovering. And the next day was sent home.

Tragically, the day I went home, I fell down a flight of stairs and broke my neck in two places. To this day, I still can't believe that happened. The injury was minor though, just hairline cracks. I healed well, but the process was slow and annoying. It's quite obvious that the fractures happened because I'm so under weight. "Skin and bone" is not an unfamiliar description of me. I just can't seem to gain weight.

In the year 2006, my aunt signed me up for Make A Wish foundation. Being a die-hard wrestling fan, I knew exactly what I wanted to "wish" for. However, the timing was off, so I had to wait an extra year for my wish to be granted. If you haven't guessed it, my wish was to attend Wrestlemainia. Even though it was a year-long wait, looking back it was definitely worth it. I took my uncle as my guest because his favorite wrestler was in the main event and the Wrestlemainia event took place on his birthday. I got autographs from wrestlers Bobby Lashley, Val Venis, The Highlanders, Jimmy Hart, Victoria, and even Rey Mysterio! In fact, the Make A Wish kids got to bowl with Rey and Bobby, myself included. The night before Wrestlemainia we got to see The Condemned in a special event, which the WWE Superstars also attended to see the movie before official theater release. My only sadness of the time I spent in Detroit, MI was that our seats were very poor. But I still consider this one of my fondest life memories.

About a year after that, I got sick again and went to the hospital. I had all the symptoms of appendicitis, and was rushed to surgery. To the doctors' shock, it wasn't appendicitis. In fact, my appendix was gone. It had been removed a few years ago when my intestines twisted. The problem was my colon was twisted again, and half of it was black and dead! There wasn't enough time to do a colon transplant or send me to Riley. They had to cut out the dead part of my colon an hope I make it.

Miraculously, I survived, but at a cost.Ever since, I've been unable to move my face (for unknown reasons) and have had chronic diarrhea.
