I wasn't medically clear to attend school, so I had 2 teachers giving me classes at the local library that year. I was really unprepared though because I'd always been on reduced work amounts from having a hard time sitting up for long periods of time to do paperwork. At first, my work was not reduced and it was just too hard.
At the same time, there was another boy at the school with the same first and last name as me, which was starting to get slightly confusing. Then, this other boy had made some threats to a teacher, and brought a gun to school; resulting in him being placed under arrest. Hearing that made me feel my name was tarnished even though I did nothing. Luckily though, by the time I was cleared to attend school the next year (On half days) just about everyone had forgotten about it.
I think all schools work differently, and I really don't know why I thought things worked the way I thought. After completing the two classes I was receiving at the library, I was now a Sophomore, which grade I remained for three more years. I was under the impression that you only had to attend four years of high school, with good grades of course. But the way things worked was you had to pass a total of forty-eight classes to graduate. Well, I had two and was only allowed to stay at school for a maximum of three classes a day. So that ended up taking absolutely forever to accumulate the credits I needed for a diploma.
Still, I was highly determined to get that diploma, no matter how long it took. My mother dropped out of high school, and the only Adams (I knew of anyway) that had stayed in school was my dad. I had plans to go to college and become either a chef or video game designer. It seemed all within my reach as long as I kept up the hard work. And kept up the work I did, earning a great A-B average in all my classes! But something was still missing from my life; I had no friends at the school, and no one to talk to that was my age. I was starting to get depressed and to feel like I simply wasn't wanted.
When I was younger, I was healthier a lot, but still frail. And as I grew older, my health problems progressed. And as they progressed, my social life became more and more solitary. I remember when I was younger I heard often "So-and-so has a crush on you!". Now, I wasn't some kind of child Brad Pitt, but I seemed to have been a somewhat popularity among a good amount of the ladies at the time. And as my health got worse, I heard less and less of "So-and-so" having crushes on me. So what other conclusion could I come to other then my health had made me unattractive?
I did my best to try keep going that thought out of my mind, but it was always there haunting me. I soon started thinking I'd most likely reached the end of my dating days. But then, in my second year as a Sophomore, I met a freshman who changed my way of thinking entirely! She liked me for who I was and didn't mind my poor health, and I liked everything about her. It didn't take long for me to realize this was love, my first real love.
My relationship with her grew fast, at least our bond did, and I felt that nothing would ever come between us. Little did I suspect that something- someONE already had. One day, she had decided it was time to decide, and chose the other boy. But not being able to let go, I tried to settle with just being friends with her. Things seemed to be working fine for a while, but I was once again lonely and couldn't find anyone else. Then, that summer, she and I got into a bad argument and stopped talking for months. I felt horrible and more alone then ever. Where will this story go next? Your choices are below...
