  Chapter 2: Create-your-own   (ID #986267)

Danny was running as fast as he could, it wouldn't be good if he showed up late for class again.

"Stupid alarm clock is too quiet!"

He continued to grumble to himself as he ran down the block, cutting red lights at every opportunity to the dismay of many early morning motorists. He was running along the school's fence, nearly at the gate, when he suddenly tripped on something.

"Ahh!"

When Danny was in a rush, nothing would stop him, and he immediately jumped back up, though he had no idea what he had stumbled over, and looked back at the sidewalk. There on the ground behind him was a string tied to one of the bars on the fence.

"Who does that?"

Just as he was about to turn around, he noticed something besides the string, and shiny white rectangle.

"Is that my ID?"

He leaped over to it and picked it up. It looked just like an ID card, but when he examined it, it turned out to be completely black. Just a white card.

"Whatever."

He threw the card straight up into the air and continued on his way, the now glowing and floating card beyond his field of view. Danny stopped just short of the school doors to catch his breath. He looked at his watch.

"I'm still five minutes early, I could have slowed down."

He brushed his school uniform off and proceeded to step forward into the building, until something stopped him.

"What?"

Something had suddenly appeared in front of him. Danny stepped back and saw the blank ID card he had just picked up. It was hovering in mid air.

"What's going on?"

He tried to dive past the card and get into the school building, but a ray of pink light shot out and grabbed his legs.

"Hey let go!"

More rays flew out of the card and anchored him like heavy cables. Danny had no idea what to do. How could this even be real? He even tried talking to the card.

"Are you mad that I tossed you away, I didn't do it on purpose... well I mean, I didn't really"

An electric shock went through his body, he couldn't move, or talk, and could barely even think. It lasted for about a minute. When it finally ended, Danny fell to the ground, he was breathing hard.

"What... just..."

He pushed himself up and looked around. The world seemed normal again. No floating ID cards, no pink lightning, just Danny standing in front of the school.

"Did that just happen?"

His watch began to beep, indicating that class was starting.

"Oh, no I can still make it!"

He ran to the glass doors and bashed them open, but as soon as he had ran three steps inside, something caught his attention. Even though he was desperately trying to avoid lateness, he couldn't help but turn around and look at his reflection. It has just occurred to him that something didn't look right at the instant he was standing in front of the doors. When he turned, he saw a vague outline of his body reflected on the glass. He stepped closer, and the outline became more clear, eventually coming close to a true reflection. Danny stared at it intently, not able to make sense of what he was seeing until it hit him in the face all at once.

Somewhere in the last five minutes, he had become a girl.

"What did that card do to me?"

His shouting was loud enough to make him notice his new voice which was unmistakeably different than before. He also brought his hands up to his head, which made him notice something in his hands, he pulled the item down to his face and read:

Brianna Nattin - Magical Girl ID

The ID card was no longer blank, and on the left side was a picture of what looked like a normal, smiling high school girl with long black hair, a white blouse, and a gray shirt - one that looked exactly like Danny did now.
