On one hand, it was wonderful that it was not only a friend, but one who was both perfectly reasonable and kind. On the other…well she didn't exactly know Nami was where she was. A slight misstep and the brunette would crush the shrunken woman like a bug beneath her boot. And Nami was so small she probably wouldn't even feel the crack of her bones shattering…It made her shudder just to think about it. There was no time to waste; she needed to get Robin's attention before something bad happens, which, as she learned from being in this crew, wasn't going to take long.
"Robin! Down here! It's me Nami!" The red-head shouted at the top of her lungs and jumped to and fro. This end of the dock was near empty so there were no other sounds other than the ocean…but that was pretty much it. The ocean was loud enough to blot out anything Nami could've ever hoped to shout, though that didn't stop her from trying. Robin was observant. She'd notice something…she hoped.
"ROBIN!!!"
-----
Not so far away, the beauty that was Nico Robin casually strode towards the chest she had found in front of the ship she'd heard of in town. Like Nami, she too switched out of her bikini she was wearing on the Thousand Sunny and donned a more appropriate attire. This outfit was the same one she wore when she was in Enies Lobby, a leather one-piece outfit with some white frills on a the edges, that had a skirt that barely covered her hips and exposed a wide array of cleavage, matched by a pair of thigh-high black boots. A smile came upon her face as she found what she was looking for. Word back in the town was that this ship was carrying ancient artifacts from the Lost Century; which, if that were true, may hold clues towards the Poneglyphs. It wasn't particularly hard to find the ship without sails, nor was it hard to find the chest. It sat right in front of the ship after all. It was already open so Robin expected it to be empty, but as she got closer it became clear that inside were a couple of small statues, carved out of what had to be some ancient wood. Wiping her brow of some sweat before hand, the archaeologist knelt down to investigate, when something in front of the chest caught her eye.
"Hmm? What's that?" She reached down to pick up this small object in front of the chest.
-----
Nami'd been screaming for Robin's attention almost a straight three minutes now, and the giantess still showed no signs of having heard even the slightest of sounds. She seemed too focused on her thoughts and the chest's contents to really notice anything. But then Robin wiped some sweat from her forehead and began to bend over. This was great! Up close she had to be able to hear the shrunken pleas of her friend. Finding some inner strength at this, Nami raised her voice even higher and continued her shouts. And it might have worked. If not for something she didn't count on…
SPLASH
A huge bead of water the size of a bathtub suddenly landed on Nami, knocking the girl flat on her face again as its salty taste worked its way into her eyes and mouth. It was one of those things where you realize right away what had happened, and Nami hit herself for the lack of foresight. Robin wiped some sweat from her brow…obviously that sweat had to go somewhere. The water-soaked Nami realized that now. She stuck out her tongue and rubbed it to try and get the salty taste of Robin's sweat out of there, not even trying to think about the disgusting aspects of it. Unfortunately, this also doubled as a means of shutting Nami up. Her cries had stopped as she tried to work out this unexpected situation.
Right as this clicked in Nami's head her ears were once again deafened by the giant sounds Robin made. "Hmm? What's that?" Rubbing more sweat from her eyes, Nami began to cheer as she saw Robin reaching for….something else in front of the chest…Dammit.
What's a girl got to do to get noticed around here?! She stomped her foot as she began to fume. The red-head prepared to start shouting again…when she noticed what Robin had grabbed.
"Oh no…"
It was the same statue Nami grabbed, apparently dropped on the ground when she shrank. The statue that may have made her half of an inch tall.
"Robin! No!!!"
But it was too late; Robin already had her hands wrapped around the object as she brought it up to her face.
-----
Unaware of any impending danger, Robin carefully brought the small statue to her face to study it, using extra caution not to damage such a small carving. It was fascinating. It had nothing to do with Poneglyphs. But it was fascinating. Such a small piece of ancient art…half an inch tall…yet carved so well. The carving techniques resembled some of the techniques used in ancient Skypiean artifacts…though the wood was more akin to what could be found on the ground…It was reminiscent of the trees used in Amazon Lily. This could indicate the possibility the two had some sort of connection at some point, or that maybe they had a common link in their pasts. There were so many possibilities. But it was too early to say anything, this was all speculation based on how it looked. There'd need to be analysis on various things before anything conclusive could be done. If the chest was already outside the owners likely didn't want the statues anyway. After investigating the ship and any artifacts there, Robin would take the statues back and do some research with them later when she had free time.
Such was the plan, until the woman realized the statue the size of her fingernail was now the size of her finger. Her face hid any emotion but Robin was indeed surprised. Her eyes shifted to the chest, which originally came at knee level, but now sat right at Robin's stomach. The answer was very simple to come to.
"I'm shrinking." It was stated as fact, with no tone behind it at all. But Robin was indeed alarmed.
The process was happening so fast that in another couple seconds the statue became big enough to match Robin's hand, and it continued to seem to get bigger until finally Robin just placed it on the ground. No need for the artifact to suffer damage after all. She looked around for anyone who may have been able to help. No one in sight (Not that people in a pirate town would've helped anyway) But at the very least it made things simple to process. She was shrinking; there was no use to throw a fit about it. All Robin could do was wait until the whole process was done with and she could act.
Hmm…What if I shrink into nothing though? She thought morbidly. The chest was now as big as Robin was tall, and growing bigger with each millisecond. The final moments of the shrinking seemed to finish the process in one big burst. Robin was a foot tall now, but it seemed the moment she blinked, she was half that, and the next moment, half an inch tall.
Right as the process stopped, she was grabbed from behind. Instinctively Robin readied to attack. She turned her head to see her attacker, instead only seeing the nearly tearing eyes of her friend Nami.
"You shrunk too?" A moment later everything began to click, "…You were stealing the chest."
Nami nodded to both, "Yeah, I thought there was treasure. But instead I ended up like this! It's all that stupid statue's fault!"
"Indeed. I wonder how it did it."
"Who cares?!" Nami cried, "I just want to go back to normal!"
"You're right. But how should we do so?"
Nami released her friend, "Well, I hate to say it…But I think we need to find the guys for some help. It's either that or wait until someone comes and finds us."
Robin nodded, "I agree. Without anyone normal-sized we're quite helpless. Someone could step on us and mistake us for ants."
The mere thought was enough to make Nami depressed.
"I still have my Hana Hana No Mi powers though. That will surely prove useful. What about your weapon?"
Nami started laughing nervously, "I uh…left it on the ship."
"It's too big to use then. Regardless, we need a plan of action."
"I couldn't agree more."
After a bit of discussion, Robin and Nami decide to…
