Chapter 13: Back home   (ID #1271551)

The flight home was quick; at least for me. It wasn’t long before I found myself standing in Erin’s bedroom.

Looking at me, chuckling, Erin said, “Enjoy the flight?”

“Yeah, actually I did.” Pausing, I said, “I couldn’t feel or hear anything outside the lamp; it was nice.”

“You’re lucky.” Pausing, Erin said, “I had to sit next to someone who snored the entire flight.”

“So what should we do now?” sitting on the bed, I said, “The lamp is nice; but I still want to get out for a while.”

Sitting next to me, Erin said, “Well…we could go see your family.”

“Okay; I guess we should get that over with.”

Thankfully, Erin’s parents weren’t home now, so we didn’t run into them. It wasn’t long before I nervously walked up my driveway, wondering what was going to happen next. Erin had said my folks acted as if I’d always been girl, but I wanted to see that with my own eyes. “What if they think I’m a stranger or something?”

Placing a hand on my shoulder, Erin said, “You’re panicking, Carly. Trust me; everything’s going to be fine.”

Taking a deep breath, I knocked on the door and was greeted by my dad. “Carly? You should’ve called us; we would’ve picked the two of you up.”

Looking at dad, in shock, I said, “Hi dad.”

Letting us inside, Dad said, “The girls and Alan are out at the moment; but they should be back shortly.”

As Erin and I walked into the family room, I saw mom walk out of the kitchen. Walking over to me, appearing completely unfazed that I’m now a girl, Mom said, “Welcome home, sweetie.”

That was unnerving, Mom greeting me the same way she greeted Alexa and Marissa. Looking at them, I said, “Guys, there’s something I need to tell you.”

Mom’s response took me by a surprise, “You’re not pregnant, are you?”

She’d never have asked a question like that if I’d still been a guy. “No, nothing like that.” Stammering, I said, “I meant…”

“Is it about what we discussed before your trip?” looking at me, Dad said, “I told you before, Carly; you’re welcome to live here for as long as you need if you help around. We know how hard it is for a young lady to rent her own place. So save up your money for now.”

I wasn’t sure how to respond to that, so I said, “Thanks dad.”

I was getting frustrated, they weren’t letting me talk, and I was beginning to wonder if telling them their eldest daughter was now a genie was the best idea.

After excusing myself, Erin and I went upstairs to my room. Both of us were silent on the way up; no doubt both thinking about what just happened.

We were in for another surprise the moment we stepped into my room. My old boy’s room was gone; replaced with a teenage girls’ room. “What happened?”

"If your family thinks you’ve always been a girl; then perhaps everything else has been changed to suit that fact.” Seeing how shaken I was, trying to reassure me, Erin said, “At least it’s not too girly.”
