You're brought back to reality when you total your dad's car after a few too many graduation parties. You try yo explain to him that you didn't drink too many beers and that you were trying to avoid hitting some animal. Nobody got hurt anyway, right?
To add insult to injury, your dad tells you you have to get a Summer job to pay off the cost of the damage to private property you most likely did and to pay for the overpriced college he wants you to go to. You attempt to argue with him, but he threatens to take you to the sherriff station himself for drunken driving.
You pleed to your mother only to find out she agrees that you need to get a job and a higher education after Summer. So much for the beach this year. The lines for the new coaster were probably going to be too long anyway.
For weeks you fill out application after application and search the want ads. You ride your old bike all over town looking for a place willing to hire you because your dad won't let you near that new car he bought when he let you drive the old one. It seems nobody's looking for someone with as little job experience as you.
Just as you're about to give up, you get a phone call from some place you don't remember applying to. You get up from the couch and ride out as quick as you can to go to the interview in five minutes. You make it in seven.
You arrive exhausted after managing to ride 20 miles away from your house in under ten minutes. Too bad you're so sweaty and so thirsty and... and... you pass out.
When you finally come to, you're still lying on the floor where you fell. You fear you were too late for the interview and somebody else must've gotten your job. You decide the only thing to do is go home and beat yourself to death with your bike. You sit up and tear off a note that was pinned to your shirt while you were unconscious.
That's odd, you don't remember pining a note to your shirt. You hold it out to look at it. It says that the place you are sitting is not the main office followed by the address of the main office. The note also says you got the job and that there is a bottle of water sitting next to you. You looked like you needed it.
You must've been out for a long time cause it's dark outside. You talk to the security guard who is more than willing to give you and your bike a ride home.
The next day, you ride down to the address written on the note. The address turns out to be a ferry boat in the marina. You can see that new coaster from where you stand as a strange man walks up to you and grabs the note from your hand. He allows you and your bike on the small ferry boat and instructs you how to use it. You ask him why only to find out it's his job you're taking.
Just great, you're a ferry boat operator. You think about leaving only to remember how long it took you to get a job in the first place. You sigh and agree to listen. The strange man tells you to head to an island.
You head to the island to discover you're not going to be stuck with the job of ferry operator. You're quite happy to hear this. Very quickly you find out you'll be the assistant to a mad scientist although you do avoid calling him that.
So now you've been working for a few weeks for him. Sometimes you stay on the island for a few days, but for the most part, you can take the ferry back to the mainland anytime you want to and you do so almost every night. The pay is at least three times that of minimum wage. You never bother to ask how he can pay you so well for fear he might stop paying you.
One night, while working late, you overhear the mad scientist laughing maniacally from the other room. You shirk it off. He's always doing that. But then you stop what you're doing cause you can hear strange animal noises coming from the room as well. You peer around the door to see what's going on only to wish you hadn't done that.
The mad scientist's back is to you, but past that you see several giant cages. What you can make out in those cages seem to scream out, "monsters!". Without thinking, you have screamed that very word. The mad scientist turns around to see who had just called his babies monsters. You stand there as he yells at you to get back to work.
Before deciding whether you should do what he says or not, you ask him what he plans on doing with those creatures. The mad scientist grins an evil grin and tells you he plans to have them attack the city and slams his fist down on the big red button he was about to press before you interrupted. The huge cage doors begin to open slowly as the monsters growl and snarl ready to come out of their cages.
Now, you know, given the average speed of your average giant monster, it will take these monsters all night to reach the mainland. You don't know how you know that. Maybe you picked it up after working for this guy for so long, but it dosen't matter now, the monsters are almost free from their cages! You've got to make a choice! What are you going to do?! Where will this story go next? Your choices are below...
