"WHAT?!?!?" Koga screamed. "WHY?!?!?!?"
"Well lets see..." Inuyasha slowly turned through the book and found Koga's deeds in life. "You've murdered innocent people, stolen, lied, lusted after Kagome, had wrathful thoughts of revenge, attempted murder, made a promise you never intended to keep, etc. the list goes on."
Well, it sucked to be Koga. There was absolutely nothing he could do as he watched Inuyasha write under his name, "Final Place of Rest: Hell."
As soon as those fateful words were written, the clouds under Koga's feet disappeared and he fell from the sky. He fell unnaturally fast, like he had a weight tied to his legs, and he saw Earth appear before him before he hit the ground and passed through it. His eyes were obscured by darkness and an incredible heat suddenly was around him like he'd fallen in an oven. Finally, he came to a stop on some hard surface. Slowly light returned to him and he saw he was in some kind of office. There was only one light and it glowed red, covering everything in an unnatural crimson glow. Koga looked down and realized he was on some kind of desk. Suddenly, a voice came from behind him and said, "Name?"
Koga whipped around and saw a huge man, much the same size as Inuyasha and Cassie the Gatekeeper. He had short cut black hair with two horns just visible poking through his hair, his irises were a strange yellow color and he was dressed in a red and black robe much like Cassie. He wasn't really paying too much attention to Koga. He was leaning back in his chair and reading from a book, a pencil tapping behind his head. Koga didn't know exactly what was going on but he said, "Koga."
The strange man wrote down his name and said, "Now please hand me the report on your worldly deeds."
"My what?"
The man looked down at Koga for the first time and said, "Your report of worldly deeds. You know, what you did on Earth to deserve eternal damnation in the bowels of Hell."
"This is Hell?" Koga said, looking around the office. "It doesn't look so bad."
"Technically this is just Hell's Waiting Room." The man grinned showing sharp pointed teeth. "Depending on how bad you were in Life will determine which of the Seven Circles of Hell you'll be sent to."
"Well I didn't get any report." Koga said, starting to get annoyed.
The man leaned back again and rubbed his eyes. He sighed and said, "Look, I know all the tricks you mortals try to pull to get out of going "downstairs" but it's going to happen anyway. Do you want to make it worse for yourself by angering the Higher Ups?"
"But I'm telling the truth!" Koga insisted.
"I've been at this desk since time began and never once has Cassandra ever neglected to bring in a report." The man said.
"Well, she wasn't at the Gates when I got there. Inuyasha was."
"Really? Oh, so she went off again to cause some kind of mischief on Earth. Lucky her. We demons down here don't get to travel to Earth as decreed by the Goddess herself."
"Goddess? I thought God was a guy." Koga said.
"Common misconception. It is a male dominated world up there. But all of Heaven is run by Goddesses and the big kahuna is Washu. There's not a single guy up there running the show. When Washu sent the You Know Who "downstairs" she decided we all had to go. Since she can go to Earth she can be with as many guys as she wants. In fact, she always seems to be going back to the same house in Tokyo..."
"This is great and everything but what am I supposed to do now?" Koga asked.
"Well...I'm not sure." the man said. "Usually whenever Cassie goes out she tells the Temp what to do. I suppose I'm going to have to send you to the guy in charge down here. He'll be able to work things out."
Koga gulped. He didn't like where this was going. The last thing he wanted to do was see whoever was in charge down here. But the man was already drawing something on the desk. When he was done, a button popped out of the desk and he pressed it. It sank back into the desk and the back wall opened revealing a staircase leading down.
"That is Hell's Staircase. Just go down as far as it goes. There will be seven doors on the stairway but don't go in any of them. Each one leads to a different circle of Hell and once you go in, you don't come back out. By the way, I'm Christopher, Hell's Gatekeeper. Just call me Chris."
And with that, Chris flicked Koga off the desk and down the stairs. As soon as Koga hit the stairs, the door slammed closed behind him, leaving him in almost total darkness. Feeling his way down the stairs it didn't take as long as he thought it would to reach the last door at the bottom of the staircase. He hadn't even felt the other doors. He made absolutely sure he was at the bottom of the staircase before knocking on the door. A voice said, "Enter."
The door slowly opened and Koga walked in, feeling extremely nervous. Where will this story go next? Your choices are below...
