But this is not the time to try that. She asks Loni "I was wanting to check my standing, just to be sure..."
Loni smiles and assures her "Yes, you are at the top and can claim your reward at the bell."
Joan feels quite pleased with this and leaves. You wonder "Reward?"
Loni explains "I want to give my students every incentive to work hard, and I feel a system of daily rewards does well. You can check the posted list for what the rewards are, but mostly the more projects you complete and the better, the more points. Whoever is at the top of the list at the end of the day gets the reward and then goes to zero and the bottom of the list. Most make it to the top at least twice, and it is hard to pass the course without getting there once."
"Oh, what is the reward?"
"Me. I throw all of me into the students' success, and since I have no class next period, I am lunch for the lucky student.
"So work hard in this class and you will dine well."
You assure her you will and start looking over the plans for your project. However, you note the projects of the girls on either side and wonder what they are.
