You wind through a few of the halls, all of them with signs and large arrows clearly directing you to the major rooms of the school. When you come to the gymnasium, you realize the pool is probably going to be the next room. And of all places in the school, the pool probably has the least-clothed people on average, even if it seems that it's perfectly within the rules for some to wander the halls stark naked. You go forth and open the next set of doors.

You smell the chlorine as you see the blue. A sizable swimming pool glimmers (kind of) in front of you, ripples of light reflecting from the fluorescent lights above. A small-busted and muscular 40-year-old woman stands on the opposite side of the pool, wearing a sporty blue one-piece bathing suit, whistle in hand and eyes scanning the water constantly as several swimmers race back and forth. Behind her is a line of freshmen like yourself, in various swimsuits of various colors with various expressions on their faces. Behind her are two big banners. The first banner says in a thick, fun font, "Swim Team Tryouts - Get in before the season officially starts!" The second is a much more stern sans-serif typeset, simply saying, "Don't eat at the pool. There'll always be someone waiting to eat you back."

Unfortunately, it seems as though people took the message to heart. Looking around, the pool is all serious business; no one is sporting a belly bulge that indicates anything beyond normal fat. No one is in the pool other than the people currently being timed by the instructor. Everyone else is standing around, mostly at attention, and everyone in room can see that you've entered. Apparently, the instructor is very good at keeping people in line.
