When it opens, she is there in a flash, and quite disappointed to see Amber. "...Oh...hi.."
"What's with you? I know I'm not the answer to all your dreams, but I didn't think you would be sad to see me."
"I'm sorry... But He is going to be here any minute! Any second!"
"Really? I'd better help then..." Glancing at the clock, Amber asks "When is he supposed to get here?"
"...Well, he didn't exactly say..."
"Did he say at all? Or did he just say he would call you?"
"Well..., not like that..."
Amber looks distinctly irritated. "Girl, you may not know men as well as you would like, but surely you know that when a man says he is going to call, he isn't."
"No, no! He meant it. Our time together was so special..."
"OK, OK! It's not my job to force you to see reality. But you have got to do something besides stand by the door waiting."
"Well, I was doing my homework..."
"Good. Get back to it. I'll answer the door IF he shows. If he is worth having, he won't mind a little wait."
Pam hardly puts her whole heart into the homework. It is just something to do until HE shows. But could anything be worse than having all this homework to do instead of being with HIM?
It is considerably later when that question is answered. The homework is all done, every bit of it. And HE hasn't called! Where is HE??
Pam's sudden panic attack gets Amber's attention. "Now what?"
"HE should have been here hours ago. Something terrible must have happened to HIM. What can I do? HE needs me!..."
"Pam, calm down. This is not going to get him here any sooner."
"But..."
"Boys are often slow at this sort of thing. There is no emergency. You just relax and get on with your life."
"But HE might need me, right now! I have got to do something..." Where will this story go next? Your choices are below...
