She lands in front of the black-hooded figure and sparks fly with the clash of their sabers. The child lays bleeding on the sand at their feet.
As she battles the mysterious figure, Helene draws her enemy away from the child. The figure fights with energy, but its form is weak. She easily slashes through the figure's middle. Surprisingly, the black hood goes limp and falls empty at her feet. Whoever she was fighting vanished, just like a Master Jedi at the moment of death. She is left staring at the cloak on the sand. Not even a drop of blood.
Remembering the child, she leaves the cloak and finds a young man tending to the child. The gash was in the child's side, and the stranger was wrapping the wound. "I think he's going to live, but the wound is deep."
"Who are you?"
The stranger wore the earth-tone vestments of a Jedi. "I was following that," he said, pointing at the black cloak. "It was once a Jedi, but left the order to follow the dark path."
"A lot of good it did him," Helene observed. "So, when were you going to step in? Right after he lopped off my head?"
"I wouldn't deprive a lady an opportunity to protect herself."
"What a gentleman. So, who are you? You never answered my question."
"I'm Juno. Jedi Knight and all-around do-gooder. Who are you?"
"Helene."
"You fight like a Jedi."
"You fight like a coward."
Juno laughed.
"Why did our friend disappear when I killed him?"
"Maybe you didn't kill him."
"You better hope I did," she said.
"Let's get this child inside," Juno said. Where will this story go next? Your choices are below...
