Lucilius' pantry and workshop had caught fire by this time, and Helene could see little through the blaze. But she could see enough to know her foe was gone. And what could she do even if she caught him? He had already beaten her once, and now he had her lightsaber! Lucilius would have known what to do, but...
Lucilius lightsaber! Helene looked around for where the body of Lucilius lay, but the fight and the smoke had confounded her senses. Her eyes watered, and a fit of coughing only drew more smoke into her lungs.
Helene gathered the Force to collect the pile of rubble that had trapped her and threw it upon the nearest blaze. It cleared her path enough to see more clearly. She lashed out again with her feelings at the base of an outside wall, and brought it toppling inward onto the flames that consumed the workshop. The rush of air cleared out most of the smoke, but caused the remaining flames to flare up hungrily. With tears in her eyes, Helene threw all her pain and rage and sorrow at all that remained ablaze in Lucilius' house and hurled it out into the desert, where it crackled impotently until smothered by sand.
Helene approached the smoldering body of her former master and knelt before him. She reverently lifted the lightsaber from his hand and kissed Lucilius on the forehead before standing. Still coughing, she turned towards the door. She never looked back as she left his house. Where will this story go next? Your choices are below...
