Okay, it's still dark out so I can't tell if there is snow on the ground over there or not, but hopefully it's gray and cloudy for you. Isn't it funny how that works? When it's dark and dreary for weeks at a time, I crave the sunshine so much. When it's always nice...I want a little nasty weather. Anyway, here's hoping your days turn dark and dreary soon. Bigsmile

Now you need to take a picture!!! I gather you are satisfied with it...the last time I got my haircut...my regular hairdresser wasn't there and I allowed someone else to cut it...ohhhh what a big mistake that was!!! It's already time for another haircut though..so that is good!!!

Some good points above and it's a relief in some ways there are no passionate feelings here about our leader - merely apathy. Whatever anyone feels about Obama, taken literally the whole psalm is a pretty terrible message. I guess verse 8 alone is acceptable to those of a certain opinion.

It's amazing the places you find inspiration for writing.

Small blessings are fine, but sometimes I think we all deserve a regular or large blessing for a change.

I admire your determination to try and see the bright side and count up the positives; some days I can't even manage that.

It's tough living away from your homeland, particularly in a country you dislike, but family and friends will always support you until the better time ahead when you can hopefully return to many happy years in Zim.

Hang in there and pamper yourself to relieve the pain of the weekend. Heart

I don't know a lot about homesickness, as I was glad to leave my family. And I don't have the sense of national pride that you do, so I'm happy where I am. I guess. I don't really ask myself these kinds of questions.

I have no habits with life-long friends, but I can appreciate that you miss these occasions. I guess you'll be spending the entire week-end on Skype.

Good news that the injured thumb was not the right one; I'm glad it's healing well.

partyof5 View partyof5's Portfolio. [Offline / Private] has a good point. Most people probably don't know the Psalm. I'm continually shocked by how much more I know of the Bible than Christians and Jews who go to Shabbat or Mass every week.

But regardless, if people are using it as a call to the assasination of Obama- then wow. As someone who lost their father at a very young age and knows the pain of it (though it wasn't in a violent or brutal way) to say that you want someone's children to be fatherless and begging in the streets is really really heartless and shows a serious lack of compassion. I'd probably think they have some sort of mental-emotional defect. But I think most of the world has an emotional defect.

I'm going to plead American Ignorance here, is it really bad in Turkey? I always thought the country was pretty settled... but I guess that's because American newstations never cover anything that happens in it, and I still can't completely understand the French news programs. So you think its ok because if it was bad, you'd here about it. Like in Spain. I didn't realize that the economic downturn hit Spain so hard that almost 1/2 or 2/3rds of people there lost their homes.

What's your article on Amethyst mythology about? I want to read it, it sounds interesting!

And you knowwww...I don't believe the Jews are real Jews there in New York..I don't mean to say they are not who or what they say they are, but they are not from Israel where it is an every day living and practice...I think the Jews there in New York derive from other places and a lot has been lost of their culture as much as they try to hold on to it. Just my thought.
And when you describe the Jews there in NY as being funny, loud and having many opinions...well..that just about describes a typical New Yorker! Laugh truth be spoken!!!

I think that honesty is the best policy when it comes to reviews, especially with friends. If you write something and its off the mark on creativity or punctuation or structure, I hope that my friends will be honest and let me know where things went wrong. It doesn't make you offensive for pointing out an error; it makes you trustworthy, and shows that truly care for the writer to achieve their highest potential.

Every review you've ever given me I know I can trust because you're always honest about my strong points and the points I need work on. In my opinion, honesty is the act of a good friend. Smile

The fact is, most people who see that t-shirt or bumper sticker will be looking up Psalms for the very first time...or at least the first time in a long time, and will not read the entire Psalm, but just verse 8. If they DID read the whole thing, I doubt they'd approve, regardless of what they think of Obama. But taking that verse as a stand-alone piece with no knowledge of the entire Psalm, many probably see it as just another in the increasingly nasty war between conservatives and liberals. It means nothing to me, but I voted the second choice because I'm guessing most people take it that way at first sight....though if they knew the entire context of the verse and Psalm 109, they would probably rethink that vote.

It took me a long while to learn not to judge unless I had the chance to walk that mile, but we are all only human and as such cannot always repress our reactions.

Because we are all human we also know our stay here is a short one, regardless of lifestyle and adopting a live and let live attitude seems to be the best policy.
