Many of us enter contests, but few donate to them. It never enters our minds, really--doesn't even occur to us. We see the title, the prompt, the awards, the deadline, and our creative juices start flowing. We want to get something. We don't think about giving something. But contests and activities cost money. Well, they cost gift points, which translates into money because someone has to pay for them. All those merit badges and awardicons, gift certificates and signatures ... they add up quickly. Click on the contests & activities pages below and you will see literally hundreds of items to choose from. Have you donated to any of them recently? Is there a particular contest you love and can't imagine living without? If so, help it out by donating to it. This will ensure its longevity and that it will be around for months, even years to come for you and others to enjoy. There are lots of auctions on WDC that raise money for contests and activities. Crochet a bookmark; donate a book or a writing magazine subscription; offer merit badges or ribbons; or even gift points. "Well, I can't afford to donate gift points," you say. In that case, consider donating yourself. Everyone has time to donate a few reviews. Are you good at making graphics? Donate a signature or two. Perhaps you draw or paint or make handmade whatchamajiggies. You can donate those, too ... the possibilities are endless. Well, perhaps not endless, but you get the picture. Generosity and a sense of community--even family--are what make WDC so unique. We're all in it together, and we're all here to help each other. Don't be shy. Don't be one of those kids who'd stand at the edge of the pool, barely sticking his big toe in. Jump in with both feet and join the fun! The water's fine. There are many contests and activities to choose from here on WDC. I’ve tried to include a wide variety here, so hopefully you’ll find something to light a fire under your muse.
And be sure to check out the comprehensive Contests and Activities listings. Each of the 150 items listed includes a short synopsis, providing you all the information you'll need to choose the contest or activity that's right for you.
