How Do You Act When You are Down?
When life is difficult, do you reach out or fold in?

 Poll Question:

Depression is never an easy thing to go through and a lot of us have developed our own unique ways (some healthy, others not so much) of dealing with it. I'm curious how fellow sufferers interact with others when they are low.

I find I tend to withdraw from my friends. I don't feel capable of being the friend they need me to be--the friend I am when I'm not in a depression or going through a difficult time. Part of that is because I don't want to burden them, and part of it is because I know I am so down, I can't relate to the events in their lives. Sometimes, I fold in so tightly, that I'm amazed by the ones who are still there for me when I come out of it and cherish them all that much more for never giving up on me.

How do you interact with friends (offline or online) when you are low, and what's the usual outcome at the end?

 Poll Options:

I withdraw from people and find myself friendless in the end
I withdraw from people but they're there for me when I'm myself again
I withdraw from people, and only a few friends stick around
I turn to my friends for support and they are all still there for me in the end
I turn to others but only a few stick with me
I turn to others but everyone turns away
    It varies.
