Poll Question: | I'm not exactly sure how many states have implemented this helmet law, but in some states (including Florida), the law says; if you are a motorcycle owner and you carry the proper insurance you don't have to wear a helmet. If you DON'T have that particular insurance then you HAVE to wear a helmet or be fined heavily. My theory on that is simple: Why can't that law apply to car owners as well? If you have the proper insurance on your car (lets say, bodily injury for the sake of argument), shouldn't wearing a seatbelt be your personal choice? Because lets face it, if I have my seatbelt on and I lose control of my car and ram into a bus stop full of people (gods forbid) how many people will be saved by MY seatbelt? I've heard of more people getting tickets for seatbelts lately than anything else. Frankly, I think the police should be concentrating on more important things like rapists and killers, not the hardened criminals that refuse to wear their 'safety belts'. So here's the question: If you had the option to pay an extra $20 a month on your car insurance to keep from having to wear your seatbelt, would you pay it? |
