Poll Question: | As I have grown older, I have started to read more "hardcore" erotica (and by that I mean not merely bodice-ripping romance novel stuff). In my readings, I have noticed that most of the B/D and S/M stories primarily contain a dominant man and a submissive female. While this seems to make some kind of biological sense and does indeed make for a hot read, why is it that invariably the interaction will devolve into the man calling the woman a bitch, slut, whore, etc? For me, this is a turn off, and not simply because it is insulting. In fact, I'm not insulted so much as offended by the predictability of it and thrown off by the un-erotic words. Can't the submission be out of love and can't obedience be demanded without name calling? |
