What characterizes pornographic writing?

 Poll Question:

I have read many articles and seen many polls here discussing porn versus erotica. I thought someone put it well when they said something like erotica encompasses both emotion and sex and can be thought provoking, while porn has little to no emotional or intellectual value. On the other hand I have started to ask myself: What is the difference between erotica and regular story that happens to have a sex scene. In my opinion, too much plot and you've told a good story that just happens to have a hot sex scene.

So, I thought that the best way to get a gauge on people's opinions was to break it down into the facets of the story.

In your opinion, what aspect of a story contributes the most in making a story porn rather than erotica?

You might have to do some thinking here. For example, what if the story is highly emotional and passionate but is shorter in length and so does not fully develop the characters or surrounding plot?

 Poll Options:

The story lacks a plot and goes right to the sex.
The story lacks an attempt to create real characters. They are just there to perform.
The story lacks emotion between the characters having sex
The copious use of crude words that give the reader the feel of visual porn.
Certain sex acts make a story porn.
Any description of sex that does not use euphemisms for body parts and sex acts.
A combination of 2 or more aspects listed.
    I don't read erotica.
    Other, please let me know!
