When receiving merit badges, what is your preference?

I was given a merit badge chosen by the giver, which thrilled me. I also won a badge of my choice, which was nice.I am just curious if others take more pleasure in one or the other, and why. Please feel free to send me a note if you know why you prefer the answer you chose.

    I want the giver to choose the badge they feel I earned.
