In this folder are all of my assignments from the first writing class I've ever taken. Unfortunately, it's all poetry...and I can't say that I'm an incredible poet.
Each item is a different assignment; the earliest ones are the farthest down the page.
"The The" Poem: Pick an object—and object—and describe it in absolute concrete detail.
Object Poem: Everyone in the class brought in a random object, and we had to write a poem including every object.
Persona Poem: We had to pick a person who should be seperated from us by distance, age, time, and/or gender, and write a poem from their perspective.
Metatative Vision Poem: Don't ask—'cause I don't even think I know. Hence, a bad poem.
Ekphrastic Poem: A poem on a work of art.
Short Poem: Hopefully this is self-explanatory.
Free Form: Once again...I have no idea.
Self Portrait: A poem about yourself...but a metaphysical version of yourself.
Days Of: Pick a time distant from yourself—at least five years—and write about it. It has to be called "Days of [whatever year]".
Sonnet: The trick to writing a sonnet is to do it in a way that isn't cliche. You'll see I failed...and this is the one poem that I left out of my portfolio at the end of the semester.
