Like the Birdman in Mozart's opera, Duncan, the "Birdbrain" of Glenbogle, longs for a soulmate. A longish short story in 3 chapters.


A jolly trapper of birds am I
And tra-la-la is what I cry.
The Birdcatcher is how I’m known,
In every corner, by child or crone.
My snares are laid. My sights are set.
I just whistle them into my net.
Mine’s the life, so gay and free,
For all the birds belong to me
