These poems will be difficult for many to digest unless, like me, you suffered endlessly from the fists and verbal end of massive abuse. You see, since the age of three when I was legally adopted into a foster home after having been given up by my biological mother at the age of two, I unfortunately learned early on what it meant to be:
A. Abandoned
B. Sexually Abused
C. Physically Abused (beaten; stabbed; shot at)
D. Verbally Abused
E. Mentally Abused
F. Neglect

For the first 34 years of my life, all forms of abuse was a daily event for me. I learned only to trust myself, hold secrets, and retreat into my sanctuary of writing. That's initially what saved me was the gift to write/compose since the tender age of nine. What also saved me was my deep bond with Animals and Nature. I would not be here today were it not for those three things. Physical, mental and verbal abuse followed me into my first marriage when I was in my early 20's.
Now I am here to tell you, I am in a loving relationship with my second husband Howard who worships the ground I walk on. Meeting Howard Stumpf, Jr. broke the Chain of Abuse. I consider myself a Survivor, not a Victim. Please, if nothing else, allow my penetrating words to heal the wounds still stabbing in YOUR heart and soul. Let me show you the fragile, tortured light I have found in the looming darkness.
