I was introduced to Haiku/Senryu on Poet.com "love at first write". I was fortunate to be mentored by a great Haijin on Fanstory.com. Through research and reading many books, my love for Haiku/Senryu has developed into a way of life.
Finally I get the difference, it took a while but at last I get it, so I have decided to inclue both in this folder.
There are Haiku/Senryu moments every where. Become aware of your surroundings. Take the time to look for them, experience them, then write them..
When reading or reviewing Haiku/Senryu use you imagination, visualize the moment, draw upon your own experience to relate to the Haiku/Senryu. What one reader sees is totally different from the next. Look for the Kigo or as I like to call it the KAPOW or BAM! The Aha I got it moment.
The greatest compliment a Haiku/Senryu poet can receive is that the reader discovers their own experience through it.
I am a Haijin everyday of my life, even when I don't leave the house.
From The Haiku Anthology edited by Cor Van Den Heuvel
Haiku a short poem recording the essence of a moment in which Nature is linked to human nature.
Senryu a short poem specifically about human nature and human relationships and is often humorous or satiric. Although different they are essentially the same.

Three of the most informative books on Haiku/Senryu I have found and believe me I have read many. Hope you enjoy!
