I have chosen Hot Fuss, the Killers' debut album. Hot Fuss was released in the US in June 2004 and amazingly, is comprised of mostly original demo recordings of the eleven tracks. About the time this album was released, music, in my opinion, needed something new, something fresh and energizing, and I found it with the Killers. Their blend of rock guitar and pop synthesizer, the phenomenal bass lines, and honest lyrics turned me into an instant and lifelong fan.

The Killers first found fame in the UK after US record companies passed them up. Everywhere they went they were mistaken for a British band, based on their sound and some of their influences: Oasis, The Cure, The Smiths and Morrissey, New Order.

In the UK, their first single was Mr. Brightside and it was an instant hit. Here in the states, they released Somebody Told Me instead and while a summer staple, they didn't gain international acclaim until the US release of Mr. Brightside. The singles All These Things That I've Done and Smile Like You Mean It as well as non-single Jenny Was A Friend of Mine maintained constant airplay all through 2005 as well.

This band has never looked back, selling close to 6,000,000 copies of Hot Fuss worldwide after touring for close to two years straight. The Killers went from tiny shows in drag bars in Las Vegas to playing Live 8 in 2005. Their sophomore effort Sam's Town is also a success, closing in on 4 million copies worldwide.

Inside, are eleven stories based on each of the eleven tracks within Hot Fuss. Each story will be titled after a song track. You might see that some stories are interconnected while others stand alone. I hope you enjoy my interpretation of each song and if you haven't given Hot Fuss a listen, you should.
