My Poetry

Writing poetry is a new experience for me. I am not a natural born poet but rather one who enjoys what words can do when crafted carefully. I like to work within structure simply because, like a child learning about life, I function so much better with boundaries. For this reason forms suit me well and I enjoy the challenge of crafting poems.

Some of my poetry is minimalist in style, can be a little vague, with deep, hidden or cryptic messages. I do this because it is my way of preserving a little privacy when I write on deep and personal issues. Some poems are quickly written rants where the purpose is simply to explode with venom. I hope to extend my hand to all forms of poetry and as I learn the finer nuances of such creations, I hope to show that progress in works of ever increasing quality and interest.

If you find my poetry to be a little somber, it is because it is much easier for me to express emotions once they overwhelm me. I have yet to learn how to write any other way. I hope you enjoy my baby steps into the dynamic world of poetry.
