In this folder will be a six to eight week course that provides a structured approach to learning to write a one act play. The approach will be analogous to a driving instructor teaching a high school student how to drive an automobile. It will be narrowly focused upon writing a monologues, dialogs, character development, building conflict, a climax and finding resolution. It will not be a historical overview, an examination of the various forms, a study of examples and playwrights or get into past and present examples...It will give the student an option to write either a comedy or tradegy and will result in a completed one act play. The idea will be based upon a scenario that the student pretends to be an accomplished writer who is approached by his/her publisher and commissioned to write a one act entitled the Double Date that will be sold to High School Drama departments for simple productions. The cast will consist of four (4) characters....two main and two supporting and contain three scenes which will will require the use of specified techniques, components and basic story outline.
