Julie Cordova, daughter of Hannah Donovich narrates this part madcap romp, part dark drama.
Julie herself, battles chronic depression and searches for answers by delving into her mother's life.
You will meet the Donovich Sisters: 4 middle-aged women whose family problems catch up with them. Finding themselves confined to the same institution, the 4 sisters finally forge the sisterhood denied them as children.
* * * Author's Note: In this book, I have tried to deal with mental illness in both a respectful and humor-ful manner. I, in no way, would ever minimize the pain (and hereditary predisposition to) that mental illness forces us to deal with daily.
But, I also need to view the vicissitudes of this struggle with certain humor. It helps me deal with the parts of this story that are TRUE.
And I believe that humor helps us all who are dealing with a multi-faceted and confusing collection of illnesses that make up mental infirmity.
I hope that you will view my attempts to laugh at a painful subject with the idea that I truly care, being one of you.
