"In the style of most great storytellers, Ms. Hunsaker has created a cast of characters that captivated me, had me on the edge of my seat, not even wanting to close my eyes at 4 am. Though I am known for not wanting to stop reading in the middle of the story, I can scarcely recall a time that I have become so engrossed in the lives of the characters so totally."

I am a novelist. Outside my family, that is my main interest and passion.
My novels stem from relationships and cultural issues and I call it literary romance since it's a blend of the two genres. Publishers might put it under women's fiction, but I won't use the gender-biased term. I have had males read and enjoy my work and don't want to put them off from giving it a try, even if there are strong romantic elements through them.
(The best way for men to really figure out what woman want is to read romantic literature written by women - not erotica, but romance: birds of very different colors).
Most of my books are safe for 15 and over, some under. None of them are graphic. None are stuffy or hard to read. They are psychological/philosophical, but only behind the scenes, not blatantly. Some are quite long. It's about the journey.
I'm an indie. Writing a niche genre and being unwilling to release control of my work to someone else made traditional publishing not for me. I believe in my work enough to invest in it myself and am free to do with it what I will, including crossing characters between books and writing to my own schedule and fiddling with it until I'm happy instead of meeting some publisher's deadline. That's great for those who work well that way. It's just not my cup of cafe mocha.
I always have plenty of excerpts available for readers to decide if it's their cup of mocha, or tea, as you will.
~ Not all romance is graphic.
~ Not all literary fiction is stuffy.

Rehearsal: A Different Drummer (2006) &
Rehearsal: The Highest Aim (2008) are the first two books in a series of what was meant to be four, but will turn into five. The series info is here:
http://www.lkhunsaker.com/Rehearsal-TheSeries.htm
Off The Moon (2009) is less romance, more dramatic/psychological [17+]:

Protect The Heart is for all ages, a sweet home front romance with literary veins:

They are also available as Ebooks at Smashwords [
http://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/lkhunsaker] and at BN.com. They should be coming to the Sony store soon. I have free read stories at Smashwords, as do many of the authors there. If you decide to purchase my books from SW, send me an email and I'd be glad to extend other WDC members a coupon for $2 off my novels! I can't do it at BN or Sony or elsewhere online, sorry.

Other stories below:
The Dance (working title) is the sequel to
Rehearsal and Nanowrimo 2005 gave me a great start on it. Approximately half of the first draft is complete. It is here in my port but with restricted viewing. I hesitate to share a sequel before the original is out.
I also have the third Rehearsal book well underway with a "very hopeful and not guaranteed" release of 2011.
Nanowrimo 2010 is bringing back two minor characters from Off The Moon and creating a short novel/novella that will likely be a free read ebook. You can follow its progress during November here: {item:1716339 }
There are others stirring in my head and some with notes and scenes here and there.
I always appreciate honest feedback and will gladly send GPs, the more thoughtful review, the more GPs.

Thanks for stopping by!
