Because I went for the proverbial bait and THEN had my eyes opened, I wanted to share information on the more well known "Vanity Publishing" outfits.

These companies take your money, offer lots of contests with big prizes, but in the end leave one in a very expensive situation, without giving the credibilty a true published author receives when he is paid for his work.

Most of this information pertains to Poetry.com. Other companies I know of are also listed. Any comapny who asks you to pay for printing your own publication is a vanity press, and is not prestigious.

Writer! Beware of those who want to publish your work and have YOU to pay for it. It's not right! Litigations are pending in several states. . . while poetry.com becomes a Fortune 500 company.
