I've wanted to be a writer since I was nine years old. After dropping out of college to gain "experience" I've just now returned to the serious, much less fun, task of actual writing. The only time I've been able to carve out for working is to drop my 2 boys off at the YMCA childwatch for two hours a day and hide by the weight room. Not exactly the romantic image I had in mind in my twenties, but it'll do for now.
