The Figure Eight is about my great aunt and her immigration from Sicily to the United States. The main character brings a unique, clear and creative way of thinking to American culture. In some ways, it is similar to other books published, such as the Godfather. This novel examines the feminine point of view of the Sicilian culture. I was born and raised in Peekskill, New York where part of the novel takes place. Raised partly by my great aunt, I was privy to the many stories she told. She saw her life as a great story and needed to tell somebody. I was an avid listener. I have translated her story into a readable language for today.
