Born in Barnsley, a one-time mining town in northern England, I nevertheless grew up in the English seaside resort of Skegness, when my family moved there with my father's carpet business. Lazy at school, I left to work, initially for my Dad, then mostly in manual labour, such as within factories. Aged 39, I managed to get a job tutoring within Community Learning Centres, having learned something totally new to me, computer, skills. At 43, I decided I needed fresh impetus, meaning a new location and environment to live. That was 2007 and I now, happily, live, teach and even write, in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand...
