Carey has always had an active lifestyle and has enjoyed activities such as: archery, ice skating, gymnastics, piano, choir, martial arts, track, cross-country, and various horse clubs. A major car accident in 1995 immobilized Carey for nearly a year, allowing her to expand on many stories written since the 3rd grade. Carey has has long had a passion for animals, working 21 years in the veterinary field. She also has worked at a rescue ranch, rehabilitating abused, injured, and neglected horses.
