Metaphore
Derek Hess is a 21 year old, Iraq war veteran. The things that he saw and live there inspired him to write poetry. He also writes to get to know him self better. Self-realization from mind, to pen, to paper I'm placing. There has been many things he learned about the world and himself in the middle of writing a poem.
