  Summary of this Book...

Lady Jane Whelsham does not wish to marry her betrothed, Nigel Boscastle. And he doesn't wish to marry her. So they scheme together to jilt Jane at the altar. However, neither of them figured that Lord Grayson Boscastle, the head of the Boscastle clan, would personally wish to correct such a cowardly act of Nigel. And nobody could see that Jane and Grayson would become the hottest scandal of the season...

The rest of the book plays out predictably, relying on the singular plot complication that Grayson hasn't figured out Jane and Nigel's duplicity. He is convinced Jane is heartsore and bordering on social collapse. Jane falls for the rakehell and finds that her conscience isn't as clear as she could wish.

Will Grayson be offended by the plot? Will he never forgive Jane for such an underhanded scheme?

It's a romance, I think you know the answers to those questions.

  Further Comments...

Overall, I was bored. I skipped over repetitive paragraphs and pages where the characters question their motivations over and over. I kept waiting for a real wrench to be thrown into the storyline, it never was. While the setting is accurate and detailed, all I could ultimately think of while reading this book was, "How many Boscastles are there to marry off?" Clearly this is the latest attempt to suck us into a new family anthology. Don't fall for it!
