  Summary of this Book...

Brave New World is a work of science fiction warning mankind of a disastrous future. At the day and age depicted in this book, there is a frenzy of mass-production. Sets of up to ninety (I think it was) identical humans would be churned out of factories at a time, and they would be "conditioned" like drones to grow up accepting everything they were told by a peculiar kind of brainwashing. This book introduces us to a whole new society, and also lets us get to know a few of the characters living in it.

This type of Book is good for...

People who are interested in these sort of political books that express opinions and fears while describing some event far off in the future that *could* possibly become a reality. For an example, if you read and enjoyed Farenheit 451 (by Ray Bradburry) or Animal Farm (by George Orwell), you'd probably like this book, as well.

  I especially liked...

How the author, Aldous Huxley, made everything seem so real. Even though the ideas seemed horribly absurd, he was able to portray how whole-heartedly the people believed these things. It was a way of life more than a political doctrine.

When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...

Think. It is a very thought-provoking piece of writing... Because, even though the society seems terribly inhumane to someone who's raised in the here and now, you can see how it came to happen. That is, you can understand the motives and reasons of the different precautions they take. Despite all the bad properties of their living, there was some good in it, too. Basically, this book provides tons of different issues to think about, and gives you a different light to see them in (a few of the issues being drugs, sex, pain and suffering, self-denial, religion... and life).

  I recommend this Book because...

It'll give you something to think about, and challenge you to establish your own beliefs on the subjects discussed. And, if nothing else, it's a well-written, captivating story.
